It’s been a busy year for propofology.com! We are celebrating our ONE YEAR anniversary of the launch of the site. Since March 2016, Propofology has gathered nearly four thousand of you via Twitter and Facebook and shared over a hundred infograms on quality improvement, basic sciences, anaesthesia, critical care and pain medicine. We have translated some of our work into Spanish via our friends in Chile as well as making connections in France, England, Scotland, South America, USA and Canada. The project has also been working with medical students, doctors, nurses, paramedics, techs and PA’s to develop content and ideas.
To name a couple of works that have gathered a lot of attention: The Propofology eBook - ‘An Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Anaesthetics’ CERTA Analgesia (with Dr. Sergey Motov, USA) Traumatic Brain Injury (with Dr. Barbara Stanley, UK) Uses of etCO2 in Resus (with Brad Gander, UK) Analgesic Battles in Paramedic Practice (with Matt Green, UK) Difficult Airway Algorithms Magnesium + Powerpoint Presentation Rib Fracture Analgesia Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Aspirin and Tranexamic Acid Blood Products and What They Do Improving Patient Sleep in Hospitals (with Mark Dornan, UK) These have been popular additions to the repository of free infograms and resources created by Propofology - why not check out the full list here or try the new search feature above? There continues to be evergreen content and resource links for medical, paramedic and nursing students that is frequently updated and used actively by students around the world. When analysing the data collected by Twitter and the website, we found some incredible statistics that should encourage you to keep supporting and working with Propofology.com in developing world class content for anaesthesia, critical care and pain medicine. Propofology tweets made impressions nearly two million times (1,986,200) in the past year from your retweets, likes and interactions. This website received 288,496 hits since March 2016. Given the relatively niche audience, I feel this is a great achievement and a wonderful testimony to the #FOAMed community who make it such a lively environment to learn in. I have made a list of all the known places Propofology content is used outwith the website, here. So, what is ahead for the next year? MORE content and changes to the website! I am planning to publish more case reports on anaesthesia, create more infograms on challenging topics and convene an extensive database of YouTube playlists on various open-access topics in ICU and Anaesthesia, Radiology and for the FRCA examinations. Propofology.com itself will be introducing a new SEARCH feature to ease the navigation through the expanding content - this will be in action from today! As always, I would invite anyone who is interested in the fields of anaesthesia and ICU to get creative and design some infograms for everyone to enjoy! See here for more information. I would like to warmly thank everyone who has been involved with the project; you have made the year extremely enjoyable. Thanks also to everyone who actively engages with the content, perusing, reviewing or critiquing; it's all part of the process! Do get in touch with any ideas for content you might have or with material you wish to contribute. I look forward to another great year with you all. David
